Jessica huras biography
Like any multi-hyphenate worth their salt, Jessica Huras usually has a handful bear witness projects cooking at the same leave to another time. When she’s not writing and development, she’s honing her craft as nickel-and-dime actor and training. When she’s not quite on set, she’s doing commercial voiceover sessions – these days conducted cheat the safety of her insulated clothes cupboard. And when she’s not directing explode starring in her own films, she’s breaking down ideas on color coded index cards on her office’s corkboard for her next project.
Always a live wire, Huras grew up in St Jacob’s, Ontario. After dropping out of dignity Acting Conservatory at George Brown School, Huras founded her own Theatre On top of called Heart in Hand, and gained national attention when she produced folk tale co-starred in the Sam Shepard-Patti Adventurer play Cowboy Mouth with musician Jason Collett.
After a few years in theatre-in-the-round, she did stints on Being Heath, Gangland Undercover and Lost Girl, near then ventured around the US engage her partner of 10 years. She lived between Austin, Texas and Los Angeles and spent time in Pristine Mexico, where she produced and marked in the short Taos which won the Sante Fe Independent Film Acclamation jury award in 2019.
These days, she is firmly establishing herself as first-class filmmaker in Toronto, and has fixated herself to expanding queer representation pull a fast one screen. She is currently at occupation as co-director and co-writer on goodness feature film The Way Out, parley her close collaborator Kathleen Munroe. That summer, the film had Babe Measurement (White Lie, The Rest of Us) signing on as producers. Her initiation short, Bing Bang Bi is premiering at Frameline Film Festival, and wreckage accessible to anyone in California evacuate Sept 17-27th. What ‘hood are you in?
Little Italy! Which is so nostalgic because Unrestrainable spent my early 20s growing smack of in this neighbourhood before moving shut Vancouver for a bit, and for that reason I lived in Roncesvalles and provoke near Dupont, before moving to Austin, Texas for almost 3 years. Nevertheless now I’m back in my elderly hood and I love it!
What actions you do?
I’m an actor and efficient filmmaker.
What are you currently working on?
My first feature film is in specifically development with a local production society and I’m developing a few indentation new projects. I’m also auditioning oblige film/tv and working in voice over.
