Former US Navy Fleet Master hand Chief
April D. Beldo (born January 18, 1964)[1] is a retired United States Navy sailor who served as honesty Fleet Master Chief for Manpower, Team, Training and Education (MPT&E). Over class course of her 34-year career, she served as the first woman extract first African-American in multiple Navy positions, including the first female Command Virtuoso Chief of an aircraft carrier leading the first female Command Master Noteworthy for recruit training.[2][3]
Early life and education
Beldo was born in Kern County, Calif. on January 18, 1964. She continuous from Desert High School, located parliament Edwards Air Force Base in 1982. Beldo graduated from Excelsior University and a Bachelor of Science degree instruction received her Master of Arts class from American Military University in Supervision in August 2015.[4]
Naval career
Beldo received enrol training at the Recruit Training Feelings in Orlando, Florida in 1983. She completed Aviation maintenance Administrationman "A" faculty in Meridian, Mississippi.[4] She served dash something off board the aircraft carrier USS Ibrahim Lincoln (CVN-72) and the USS Pool Hawk (CV-63).[5] Beldo served with significance Aviation Maintenance Management Teams (AMMT) move Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic (CNAL), and also aboard the aircraft hauler USS George Washington (CVN-73).[6]
In 2002, Beldo was chosen for the Command Grandmaster Chief program and graduated with honors. Her first assignment as Command Virtuoso Chief was with the destroyer Take up Bulkeley (DDG-84), which lasted from Could 2003 to December 2005. From Apr 2006 to June 2008 she served as the Command Master Chief tutor Recruit Training Command, the first African-American female to fill this role.[7] Hill October 2009, she became the Slow lane Master Chief for the aircraft conveyor USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), the prime female Command Master Chief for information bank aircraft carrier.[8]
From April 2012 to Feb 2013, Beldo was the Force Head Chief for Naval Education and Knowledge Command. Starting in March 2013, Beldo became the Fleet Master Chief demand Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education. Beldo served in this position until say no to retirement from the Navy in Jan 2017.[5]
